There is a lot of information currently available on the Internet regarding travel. There are online travel sites for cruises, hotels, air, trains and any other type of travel. But what is the right product for you? Is the hotel location where you want to be? Is the type of room or cabin suitable for you? Is this cruise line what you should book? Not all products are created equally and products are not suitable for everyone. How can you say? Contact professional travel.
Are there travel agents?
There have been numerous articles, and even the President of the United States, said travel agents do not exist or go. Somehow they are right. Travel agents in the past were just a person who booked a trip to someone who called or came to the front office of a travel agency. Travel agencies at the storefront are few and far between days, with most "travel agents" returning home to work. Even the term "travel agent" goes away because what they are doing now is different than what they have done before.
Travel Professionals / Travel Consultants
Travel agents are now a consultant and consultant, so they are now called travel experts or travel consultants. Even the travel industry is trying to stay away from using the term "travel agent". They no longer book a trip for someone, they know more than what is available to the traveler. Travel professionals now learn constantly, travel constantly, receive input from other travel professionals about where they traveled and represent a resource for what is now required to travel.
When you use an online travel agency like Expedia, Travelocity, etc., you will not be able to protect someone to show you. They book your travel and then you are alone. Suppose your trip has been canceled, who will book an alternate flight? You, not them. If you are a travel specialist, a travel specialist will do it. If something goes wrong with your trip, if the room you booked is not what you think it will be, who will correct it? The travel specialist will also constantly check for lower prices before the final payment and whether a new promotion will be more useful than what was booked with a deposit. All these things can be processed before the final payment.
The travel specialist has worked with you since I spoke with them for the first time so that you can be at home safe and sound and any problem has been solved or addressed.
It costs more to use professional travel
This is not always true. It is true that some travel specialists charge fees, but not all of them do so. This is because some vendors, such as airlines and some hotels, do not pay a commission or that some sellers have reduced the amount of commissions paid to travel professionals. In order to cover their expenses, some travel specialists charge a fee. I charge $ 50 per person for local airline bookings and $ 100 for international air bookings. I will also sometimes charge hotels for the same reason or if I am assembling the different sections of the trip together. If you book a cruise or a tour, I will not charge any fees because the seller pays me a commission. Remember, whether you use a travel expert or not, commission is still paid because it is automatically included in the price of the seller. So why not use a travel professional and avoid trouble and save your time?
The rules of travel are constantly changing and the travel professional is able to keep his customers on track with them.
For example, did you know that in January 2016, you may need a passport to fly internally? This is because of a law called a real ID law. This requires all travelers to obtain a valid ID card that includes all these areas: full legal name, signature, date of birth, gender, unique identification number, main residence address, and applicant's photo. Unfortunately, there are still a few non-compliant countries. Do you know which countries are compatible and which ones do not? No professional travel. Incidentally, the manifestly non-compliant States / Territories are American Samoa, Louisiana and New Hampshire. The Minnesota and New York jurisdictions offer an optionally improved cost profile, so since it is optional, there is no large proportion of the population. Some states have applied for additional additions, but it is not clear whether they will be awarded. Currently, there are only four states (Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York) and American Samoa are technically incompatible.
Also, we still do not know whether 1 January 2016 will be the date of the condition or will it be later? Because of this law, the length of passport processing for all will be affected. All passports issued in 2006 to meet the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative which came into force in 2007 have now expired, causing a large number of renovations. Therefore, due to these renovations and the possibility of implementing REAL ID, passport waiting is expected to increase. As of October 11, the current wait has already increased from one week to four to six weeks for normal passports and three weeks to speed up. The person can be up to eight days depending on travel needs.
Ultimately, a REAL ID law will require all drivers licensed by the state to include "machine readable technology" or chips to help maintain our safety and security while traveling. For more information about the real ID code, go to http://www.dhs.gov/real-id-public-faqs.
Also, passports are advised for trips just as they are required to travel outside the United States. The reason is that if you need to return to the US from a foreign port you have a passport to do so. Just because you are on a cruise departing the US port, technically you travel internationally once you board the ship because most ships are registered outside the US!
A travel specialist will be able to help you determine if visas are required to travel to the place you want to go. If they do not know for sure, they know where to send you this information and get a confirmation that you do not need one for the type of travel you are doing. For example, for most cruises if you leave an American port and return to the same US port, you may not need a visa to visit the ports. This is called a "closed loop" trip. But, again, most cruises. Always check twice to see if one is needed.
Example: Travel insurance
Again, not all travel insurance is created equally. Should you buy travel insurance? at all!!! I recommend my clients not to buy travel insurance, most often, from a trip provider or product. Why coverage is not as comprehensive as third-party policies. Travel insurance is not purchased solely because of travel delays or loss of baggage / damage or cancellation. Some health insurance companies do not cover you when traveling outside the United States. No medical care. Travel insurance will be a basic health insurance during your travel, from the time you leave to the time you return home. It also provides emergency evacuation for health reasons and protects you for other things. Always read the policy and information provided by the travel insurance source to see what is covered. Your travel professional will know what a good travel insurance is.
